BRONDE HAIR GUIDE

A cross between blonde and brunette, bronde hair is a popular option for anyone looking for a new style for autumn 2024.

Whether you’re currently blonde, brunette or another shade entirely, bronde shades are uplifting, flattering and easy to maintain.

What is bronde hair?

Previously known as dirty blonde, bronde hair contains a mix of light and dark golden hues - it’s a subtle, elegant mixture of blonde and brunette. It suits all skin tones and is a versatile shade that can add depth to a number of shapes and looks.

It can add warmer tones to brunette hair, or give a more natural look to lighter, bleached tones.

Is bronde the same as balayage?

Bronde is different to balayage - however, the two can go hand-in-hand. Bronde is a mixture of colours, or expertly-combined colours, whereas balayage is a colouring technique that involves subtly dying the hair different shades without a harsh contrast.

Is bronde hair low maintenance?

As well as its versatility, bronde hair is popular due to its low maintenance. The root area is often darker, so it's less obvious when your roots begin to grow through. This means you can grow your natural colour through easily enough, or leave it a little longer between touch-up appointments.

If you’re looking to lock in your colour, we recommend you use our PRO Colour Revive range - it’s expertly formulated to strengthen hair and protect against colour fade.

How can I get bronde hair?

We’d recommend speaking to your stylist if you want bronde hair. Bronde as a style can be difficult to achieve if you’re dyeing your hair yourself. Your stylist will easily be able to add a variety of brunette and blonde shades to your hair, whilst also recommending the best shades for your skin tone and eye colour.

Types of bronde hair

Bronde Balayage

For a subtle bronde style, bronde balayage keeps your hair looking natural with a sun-kissed look. Balayage is also a great way to highlight your facial structure and add texture to your hair.

Bronde highlights

Bronde highlights are a great option for brunettes who would like a subtle change in style, but also want to stick to their roots. Adding honey and golden highlights to a brunette base can create a combination of bright and bold layers.

Cool ash bronde

This style is perfect for adding cooler tones to your hair. Most bronde colour combinations contain warmer tones, and keeping the blonder highlights icy gives a unique shade that contrasts nicely against sun-kissed skin. Our Violet Crush Purple Toning Mask is perfect for maintaining icy hues.

Honey bronde

Honey bronde features warm, honey-toned highlights. With a bright shade on top and darker routes beneath, this style resembles a naturally sun-kissed look.

Bronde money pieces

Money pieces are a great way to highlight your facial structure. They’re also a great way to try bronde without changing too much of your hair colour. Money pieces are strands of hair that subtly frame your face; with bronde money pieces, the strands tend to be blonder than the rest of your hair, but still subtle and not too showy.

Sandy bronde

Sandy bronde hair is on the blonder side of bronde. For a sandy bronde look, you should ask for light, blonde highlights with dark, brunette lowlights. With a good, well-structured balayage added into the mix, these contrasting shades will blend seamlessly together.

Strawberry bronde

This unique shade combines hues of medium brown, sandy blonde, copper shades and strawberry blonde to give you a bold combination of red and blonde shades. This colour is great for bringing out the shape and dimensions of curly and wavy hair, and adds a new level of texture and movement.

High-contrast bronde

Whereas balayage bronde subtly and gradually blends different tones of blonde and brunette, high-contrast bronde sees ash blonde and dark brown clash in a bold and exciting way. You can try this look two-tone, or with contrasting highlights added throughout your lengths.

Dark bronde

At first glance, dark bronde may just look brunette. However, this style has lots of blonde babylights that give a subtle blend of warm and cool hues. This style is perfect if you’re a brunette and want to try a simple and subtle bronde look.
